Cognitive neuroscience is the investigation of human perception, or thought, as it identifies with neuroscience, or the organic elements of the mind and sensory system. Fundamentally, the objective of this sort of neuroscience is to help analysts see how the physical and organic parts of the mind impact or make the less unmistakable parts like thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and memories. There are notable similarities and differences in “cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience” (Chapman & King, 2009). This paper presents two separate dialogues about metaphors and analogies used to describe the “functioning of the human brain” (Hunt, 2007). The Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience investigates brain-behavior interactions and promotes a lively interchange among the mind sciences. Contributions address both descriptions of function and underlying brain events and reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the field, covering developments in neuroscience, neuropsychology, and cognitive psychology. Cognitive Neuroscience Personal Statement Why do some individuals turn out to be aggressive and violent while others are not? Is it really true that some individuals are neurologically more susceptible or predisposed to be violent, aggressive and engage in risky behaviors than others or are they just the by-products of their environment?. The application of neuroscience to educational research remains an area of much debate. While some scholars have argued that such applications are not possible (and will never be possible), others have been more optimistic and suggest that these are possible, albeit under certain conditions, for example when one aims to understand very basic cognitive processes.
Cognitive neuroscience bridges these two domains. It maps higher-level cognitive functions to known brain architectures and known modes of neuronal processing. Cognitive neuroscience is an academic field concerned with the scientific study of biological substrates underlying cognition, with a specific focus on the neural substrates of mental processes. However, many cognitive functions and behaviors are likely emergent; that is, they cannot be understood by analyzing the underlying neural circuits alone (bird flocking is a great example here). Indeed, the neurocognitive architecture governing attentional control might be dramatically different while performing even the most trivial everyday actions. Cognitive neuroscience explores the relationship between our minds and our brains, most recently by drawing on brain imaging techniques to align neural mechanisms with psychological processes. In Mind and Brain , William Uttal offers a critical review of cognitive neuroscience, examining both its history and modern developments in the field.
